Hailing from Jalandhar District in Punjab, Harvinder Riar has been associated with the Indian media for over 20 years. A seasoned media presenter and journalist, he has been part of leading Punjabi media like the Punjabi Tribune, Ajit Newspaper, Doordarshan and DD Punjabi in India.

In the US over the last decade, Harvinder Riar has become a strong voice of Punjabis in North America through the show Aaj Da Mudda LIVE on Weekdays at 9pm EST.Aaj Da Mudda, a political themed talk show, raises issues – political & social, affecting the American Punjabis. While still in college, Riar started working as a field journalist for “Ajj Di Awaaz.” Within six months he moved to “Punjabi Tribune” and started to serve as the Head of Sub Division – Nakodhar.” Some very prominent Melas that have been conducted by Riar are – Professor Mohan SinghMela, Hashim Shah MelaJagdev Kala, BhatindaLokVirasatMela.

His next move was Doordarshan Jalandhar. His weekly entertainment program “Lishkara” was immensely popular. So that it was said that people don’t eat food when the show was broadcasted. He recorded around 200 episodes for Lishkara. His Other shows that were also very popular with DD Jalandhar were – KavSharand Lok Rang.

Due to political situation not being very friendly and his equation with some prominent ministers going , Riar decided to move to United States in 2000.
After landing in New York, Riar started from scratch and did some odd jobs to make ends meet.Soon, the first Punjabi American TV channel – Jus Punjabi, was launched. He was hired as an anchor in 2007.

Mudda is a LIVE debate show on which Riar discusses political, social and cultural issues. He also chats with personalities, either on phone or as a guest in the studio. He later takes calls from viewers and involves them in the discussion. Mudda has been now going on for 7 years and continues to be the most prominent Punjabi Talk show in North America.
